Style: 1970s Mudbrick, circular home with natural curves
Panton Hill House is a beautiful light filled home that embraces nature and blends seamlessly into its environment. Big windows, letting in natural light are a fantastic feature of the home, however presented several challenges in regards to creating a comfortable and efficient place to live.
Wayne reached out to us with a problem, his house was bright and lively, yet lacked the modern day efficiency. His dual fireplace whilst capable of creating a beautiful warmth saw the heat leaking almost instantly through his large floor to ceiling windows. With over 80sqm of glass comprising the walls of the home, temperature control was a real issue within the property. The existing single pane glazing had efficiency worse than cardboard and also presented safety issues due to the size of the panels.
Unlike standard renovations, maintaining the original aesthetic of the home is critical. From quotation to the finishing touches of the project, this was always at the forefront of mind and planning.
One of the key complexities within the home from a double glazing perspective was the circular walls and the way in which this affected the window frames. With standard glazing, you can simply cut to size to fit in the existing openings. However custom double glazed units are measured and ordered to fit.
In order to achieve an aesthetic eyeline with the double glazed spacer, precise measurements were taken and custom beading profiles used to ensure the original looks of the home were retained.
Upon completion, the house was significantly more climate controlled resulting in lower heating and cooling bills, eliminated condensation and an overall improvement to comfort.
